Time to celebrate - Slicing Pie available to founders in 15 European countries
The fairest equity split is becoming available to more and more European founders. It all started with an innocent question by two early stage founders - would it be possible to implement slicing pie in Switzerland?
Slicing pie is a very interesting alternative to fixed equity splits. It ‘cures’ a lot of the pains of fixed equity splits - you can fairly evaluate the past (how much each cofounder already contributed), you do not need to make guesses about the future (how much will each cofounder contribute), and you can motivate the founders by combination of time and milestones settings.
There are thousands of founders all over the world with a great experience of using slicing pie.
When I first discovered it - I was absolutely convinced of its benefits. But having a legal and tax background, I was also very aware that if European founders are to benefit from this method - they need a way that is relatively easy and with limited costs - be able to implement it.
And that is when the European slicing pie journey started. After getting in touch with Mike Moyer and getting the green lights from him - for the past 5 years we worked with the slicing pie pioneers (below) to develop and implement the slicing pie standard templates for use by European Founders.
This project’s success is a tribute to founders and innovative and sharing lawyers! Typically, a founder would find me and ask - I would really like to use slicing pie. Can you help me to get the template for my country? And together we would search for pragmatic and passionate startup lawyer to help us customise the template for the country. No huge budget, no huge team, but huge success!
Thanks to the contributions, enthusiasm and creativity of Mike Moyer, the founders and dedicated slicing pie experts, we now have a solution to implement slicing pie in 15 European countries - with more on their way!
